You will support us during your PhD at HELLA's Global Software House and develop solutions for safe and sustainable mobility of the future. In the Software Foundation department of the Global Software House, you will work on a modern, user-friendly tool landscape and methodology for the development of embedded software. Thanks to the connection to the E-LAB research institute (www.the-e-lab.de), you will have optimal conditions for practice-oriented research work in harmony with the scientific demands of a doctorate and application in the automotive industry. In a young and interdisciplinary environment, you will contribute to applied research in the field of software development. With the help of Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI), you will develop new tools and methods along CI/CD pipelines and thus support the software development of tomorrow's vehicles.
- You will analyse the literature on the application of Generative AI in the field of software development (especially embedded automotive systems).
- You will discuss the application of Generative AI solutions in the context of Continuous Integration & Continuous Delivery (CI/CD).
- You define requirements for the application in the operational context (software development in customer projects) with regard to usability, compliance, and correctness.
- You take into account the following points, for example, but not exclusively: Adaptation of non-embedded solutions to our industry, self-learning systems, agent systems, use of historical data on software problems in the company.
- You will publish the research results in scientific journals, at conferences and in the dissertation.

WHAT MAKES YOU STAND OUT
- You are studying electrical engineering, automotive engineering, mechatronics, computer science, informatics, mathematics, physics, artificial intelligence or a comparable course of study.
- You have previous experience in one or more of the following topics: Embedded Systems, Automotive Software Development, Continuous Integration and Delivery.
- You have experience with machine learning, ideally with generative AI, or are willing to familiarize yourself deeply with this topic.
- You are passionate about scientific work, would like to publish scientific articles and are looking forward to direct application in industry.
- You are also characterized by enthusiasm, team spirit and creativity as well as an independent way of working.
- Ideally, you have very good German (at least C1) and English (at least C1) language skills.
